Untethered

Staying Connected to God and Jesus Christ

By David C. Moon

Imagine being an astronaut on a spacewalk and the cable that tethers you to the ship breaks.  Suddenly, you are drifting helplessly through space, terrified, without a way to get back.  All of us need connections and relationships in our lives.  And the most important connections we can have are with our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.  Many people in today’s world are choosing to distance or disconnect themselves from these most important relationships and finding themselves drifting aimlessly in a world of shifting values and turbulent trends.

In Untethered, author David Moon discusses the importance of staying connected to God and Jesus Christ, and teaches how our connection to Christ’s restored church and listening to and following His living prophets are key to building and strengthening our relationships with the divine.  Specific principles are outlined that can help us draw closer to Jesus Christ and stay connected to Him, even in the midst of adversity and trial.

About the Author

Author David C. Moon lives in Alpine, Utah, and currently serves as a patriarch in his stake.  He and his wife Kathryn served as mission leaders in Cambodia and Vietnam for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and witnessed firsthand the joy experienced by new converts when they first learned the truths that they are children of a loving Heavenly Father, that Jesus Christ is their Savior, and that they can have a personal relationship with Him.  They also saw how quickly the world around us, full of temptation and adversity, can weaken, undermine, and sever our connections with God.

These experiences led David to write Untethered, focused on helping family, returned missionaries, and others understand more clearly how much God loves them and how they can strengthen their personal connection to Him.

David serves on the board of directors for Mentors International, a non-profit organization that provides mentoring and education to alleviate poverty and help small business entrepreneurs in developing countries, including Cambodia. He graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science from Brigham Young University. His career spanned software development and venture capital, and included technology and executive leadership roles with WordPerfect, EsNet, Ancestry, and the State of Utah.

David and Kathryn make a valiant attempt to keep up with their 7 children and 28 grandchildren. David loves board games, playing the piano, horseback riding, and building massive Lego sets with his grandchildren.
